Newbery: London 1765 24 copper-plate engravings (including frontis), 8 x 5.25, replacement covers, ¾ reddish brown leather with raised bands and gilt lettering, grey boards, replacement endpapers, top edge gilt, (200)pp + dictionary. Light soiling to boards, light/moderate shelf wear, corners and spine tips scuffed/scraped, raised bands well rubbed, outer hinges barely starting, bookbinder’s blindstamp along with date of 1913, inner hinges cracked, pencil note on front endpaper "Returned to one R.I. (sp?) Cole rebound Sept. 19, 1913 by C.F.," note pasted to rear endpaper (causing offsetting): "Binder. From Miss E.J. Crage (sp?)," inner hinges cracked, ink name "Hundill" on title page, toning, light soiling, scattered light foxing, page 101 printed as "111," vertical tear on lower margins of pages 139/140, light staining in the margins of a few pages else good/very good. A very attractive book. Mark Anthony Porny was the pseudonym of Antoine Pyron du Martre. FIRST ED.
