Charles Cist: Philadelphia 1795 Part I only (all published). Eight folding plates, 6.5 x 4, leather backed boards, 151 pp + contents, covers very worn, corners rounded, spine cover half gone, inner hinges cracked, ink and pencil jottings, on front fly is an ink name: "Capt. John M CombBrook, County Virginia, 1799," contents toned, stained, foxed, page edges chipped (esp foldout plates), couple of plates with panels detached but present, a rather poor copy but complete. Baron von Steuben was the inspector general and the major general of the Continental Army (considered its father since he was responsible for turning it into a fighting force) and was also Gen. Washington's aide-de-camp during the final years of the American Revolution. He died in 1794. First published in 1779.
