Levitt and Alden: Boston 1845 Title page vignette, 7 x 4.5, blindstamped brown cloth, 184 pp + index. Covers fair/poor (well worn, stained, etc.), text block almost detached from front cover, ink and pencil notes/scribbling throughout, staining, text block cracked, loose signatures, lacks free front endpaper and any blank pages prior to title page, one rear blank page torn out, all pages present. Some of the song titles: "Blind Slave Boy," "Emancipation Song," "Negro Boy Sold for a Watch," "The Fugitive," "Come Join the Abolitionists" and "Brothers Be Brave for the Pining Slave" which begins with "Heavy and cold in his dungeon hold, Is the yoke of the oppressor." Some of the lyrics were from the works of famous writers, i.e., Whittier, Longfellow, Lowell, Cowper. Sold as is. Fourth edition.
