Nathaniel Noyes: Boston 1857 13 full page illust (incl frontis) plus text illustr, 7 x 4.25, 160 pp. Covers stained, toned, spine cover lacking almost half, small hole on front cover penetrates the first several pages, staining to contents and page edges, loose signatures / text block cracked. From the Prefatory by the author (who was the president of Amherst College): "This Fable was originally prepared for delivery at Temperance Meetings and Celebrations, and was thus used on several occasions in Massachusetts. It is now published with the addition of many new facts. . . in the hope that this allegorical mode of exhibiting Temperance . . . may excite more interest than a method more didactic . . .
