Program for Detroit's Empire Theatre, commencing the week of April 25, 1898, featured play was "Flood Tide" by Edward Weitzel and Emma Louise Orcutt, next week's offering will be "The Passion Play" and illustrated by Cinomatographe.

Detroit 1898 Illustr, 9.25 x 6, stapled wraps, unpag (8 pp). Covers soiled, creased, small tears, lacks one staple, remaining staple is rusty, spine splitting, contents have light soiling and small tears else good. Lots of nice local ads: Grinnell Bros. Music House, Gourlay Bros. Tailors, CJ Whitney's Pianos and Organs, Coots' Turkish and Russian Bath House, Hotel Cadillac, plus ads for businesses that sell name brand bicycles, i.e., Columbia, Hartford, Monarch. In October of 1897, the Empire temporarily served as a replacement for the Detroit Opera House which had just been totally destroyed by fire. Not of the same quality as the opera house since it was a burlesque house located on "Whisky Row," a block of 13 saloons.
