Handwritten Letter on the Letterhead of the H.C. Hovey Candy Co., Manufacturing Confectioners, of Detroit to Mansfield Gum Co. of Newark, NJ, askign to be the exclusive agent for Mansfield's Pepsin Gum.

Detroit 1904 8.5 x 11, written in both ink and pencil. Toned, tears, creases, torn puncholes in margin, lacking part of a corner, soiling. There are several machines (also called "automatic clerks") that should have gum in them but are empty, the jobbers who supply them not keeping them filled. Hovey proposes to "carry a full and complete stock . . . Look after the machines, keep them in good order . . . And see that all machines are well filled. . ." Hovey not only made candy but he also was the maker of "Imperial Brand Ice Cream." Comes with: a 1911 statement from the Hovey Co. listing their expenditures i.e., taxes, Nat. Paper Co., Smith Bros., 8.5 x 5.5, light soiling and creasing. Sold as a lot.
