Shaw, [George] Bernard.

LOVE AMONG THE ARTISTS.

Brentano's: NY 1913 7.75 x 5.25, gilt lettered blue cloth, 458 pp, covers rubbed, extremities bumped and fraying, hinges loose, former owner's signed bookplate, eps unevenly toned from inserted newspaper clippings, etc, contents edge-toned, a rather worn copy but WITH POSTCARD WITH SIGNED AUTOGRAPH NOTE BY GEORGE BERNARD SHAW held in by corner tabs. Postcard is used, postmarked Bayreuth Aug 7 1908, with photo of Bayreuth theatre on one side, with note from Shaw: "Send royalties as usual. Business is conducted as usual at Adelphi Terrace by my secretary. Miis Hornuman [sic?] is here, making a great sensation by her opal dragon" AND IS SIGNED G. BERNARD SHAW. On reverse Shaw addresses postcard to B. Iden Payne at the Gaiety Theatre in Manchester, England. Postcard is somewhat soiled, with two finger prints (Shaw's?) near address, some minor edgewear. B. Iden Payne was an English actor, director, etc, who directed many productions of Shaw's works. Nice way to jazz up a practically useless book.
