Portland nd (1880s/1890s Mount is oblong 10 x 8, photo is 7.5 x 4.5. Mount is torn, soiled, stained, chipped, missing part of lower corner, photo has a few light scratches, tiny bit of chipping else good/very good. John and Angelo Arrata, the younger of the three Arata brothers immigrated to Seattle around 1887. A short while later, they started up a business with Charles E. Donohoe which was called Arata, Donohoe & Co. The photo shows three men standing in front of the store, most likely the Arata brothers and Donohoe. There are two glass display windows, each of which is filled with a "pyramid" of liquor bottles. The sign on the building reads in part ". . . Wines and Liquors for Family Use. Sample Room." Attractive photo.
