Metal Printing Plate Showing a Great Lakes Freighter and Tugboat, both unidentified in the foreground and in the background, a large plant with multiple smokestacks.

np nd (early 1950s 12 x 18, no artist name/initials. Appears to be an uncmpleted work as both ships have no names but maybe this was meant to be a generic Great Lakes industrial scene. The freighter is docked, the plant is reminiscent of the Ford Rouge complex, another dock on the right and the tugboat is in the lower right corner, neither vessel has any flags. The scene is similar to other works by Carlos Lopez (1908-1953), a Cuban artist who studied at the Detroit Art Academy and who found inspiration in the Midwest and in Detroit factories. We were unable to make the connection between Lopez and this printing plate so further research is needed.
