Group of 32 color chromolithograph and 2 b&w postcards from the early 20th c. showing various locations in St. Clair Flats including Tashmoo Park, Sugar Island, Joe Bedore's Hotel, The Old Club, Gratiot Lighthouse.

St. Clair Flats 1906-1909. 3.5 x 5.5, various publishers. There are 18 postally unused, 10 postally unused with pencil notes and 6 postally used (half missing the stamps), 5 duplicates, soiling, creasing, edge/corner wear, chipping, pencil name on the front of one, one is lacking an upper corner, another is vertically creased and lacking small piece out of lower margin, overall condition is good. Most of the senders were having either a "dandy time" or a "fine time." Other comments: "I am having a lovely time up at the Flats," "This is the first place (Old Club) we past (sic) going to our cottage. . .," "I had a ride with the ice man and went past here (Maple Leaf Hotel) . . ." St. Clair Flats was an upper class resort community visited by the who's who of Detroit society, many of whom had their own "cottages." In the late 19th century, there were five impressive clubhouses and several hotels with resort facilities, some geared to patrons with smaller budgets. The very popular destination, Tashmoo Park, opened in 1897. An interesting collection of cards from a bygone era. Sold as a lot only
