Gabriel Richard Press: Detroit 1811 6.75 x 4.25, half leather, marbled boards, 132 pp, covers quite worn, extremities bumped, worn and scuffed, bottom of spine missing, with crack above, outer hinges cracked, old bookplate adhesion marks inside front cover, 1929 ink inscription on front fly, bold ink number and pencil marks on rear eps, contents very browned with some close cropping and light printing in spots, else a very valuable piece of Detroit history. Norman Clarke's Richard Press Bibliography #19 (second issue with "Coxshaw" spelling and horizontal chain marks on title page). Richard, a Catholic priest, established his printing press in the Detroit area around 1809. Richard became the Territorial Rep from Michigan in the US House, and died from cholera in 1832.
