Hoover, J. Edgar.

Typed Letter Signed by FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, March 16, 1944.

FBI: Washington DC 1944 One page, 9 x 7, on Hoover's letterhead, addressed to a Charles Samarjian in Detroit, regarding Samarjian's newspaper quiz feature,"Who's This Man?" Hoover jokingly states that he had ". . . a faint suspicion as to the identity of the individual . . ." and points out that he has not delivered 5,000 addresses in one year -- more like four or five. Letter is folded horizontally, toned, with finger soil, in original mailing envelope (soiled, postally used). LETTER IS SIGNED BY J. EDGAR HOOVER. Sold with a copy of Samarjian's compilation of the "Who's This Man?" quizzes, wraps, minor toning but still very nice. Samarjian was a cranky used book store owner in Detroit for years and years.
