Honorary Member Certificate for the Lexington (Missouri) Fire Company.

Lexington, Missouri. 1955 9.75 x 7.75, decorative border with a small pumper and an eagle near the top of the border, paper seal with "Lexington Fire Company Incorporate 1847" and an illustration of a fire engine. Fold creases, light toning and spotting. Issued to William B. Waddell, one of the founders of the Pony Express. Waddell moved his family to Lexington in 1849 and eventually became one of the major suppliers for western travelers. He formed a partnership with William Russell and Alexander Majors, forming the Pony Express which ran from April 1860 to October 1861. Waddell died broke at the home of his daughter in Lexington in 1872. Certificate is attractive.
