Compagnie Generale - Transatlantique French Line Normandie.

France 1935 Illustr by Iribe, 12 x 9.5, pict stapled wraps, unpag (26 pp). Covers moderately worn, creased, light soiling, spine starting to peel, stain foredge else contents good. Stamped inside rear cover "H. Browning Windsor, Ont. Steamship Agent." Some of the areas shown: Grand Hall, Winter Garden, Sundeck, Theatre. Especially attractive is the centerfold featuring the Normandie with a backdrop showing a montage of buildings from the various cities she will visit. Her maiden voyage was May 29, 1935. Seven years later, she was seized by the U.S. for a troopship and renamed the U.S.S. Lafayette. The ship caught fire during the conversion and capsized. Restoration proved too costly and the Normandie/Lafayette was sold for scrap in 1946.
