Letter Opener from the State Savings Bank.

Detroit. 1897 9.5 in length, handle is a highly decorative bronze colored metal, "opener" is gray metal. Opener is stained and worn, handle has light wear and soiling (needs a good cleaning) else good. The handle has a leaf, flower and bow pattern, stamped on one side "State Savings Bank Detroit Mich." along with the state seal of Michigan and on the reverse "Detroit August 1897." In 1896 the bank was located in the Hammond Building which was at the corner of Fort and Griswold Sts. Attractive.
