THE OWOSSO WEEKLY PRESS. Volume XXIV. Number 42. Wednesday, June 16, 1886.

21 x 15, 8 pp, tears, browning, fold creases, chipping lacking upper corners. Various articles: baseball box scores for the Owosso vs. Lansing game, Prohibition county convention, passage in the U.S. Senate of the supplemental Chinese immigration bill which also indemnified the Chinese for damages to their property during recent anti-Chinese riots, case of the prostitute Thankful Tanner vs. Lucretia Garfield, widow of Pres. Garfield (Tanner ran into Mrs. Garfield's carriage and attempted to sue her for damages) and more local/national and international news. Lots of nice local ads, some large in dimension (at least two columns wide). Of special interest is the ad: "Two colored evangelists, Reverends Lennox and Dorey, will hold an evangelist meeting at the Opera House this evening." There are ads that have particularly nice illustrations: E.L. Brewer, who advertises that they are "Sole Manufacturers of the Famous Red School House Shoes" and shows children at play outside a schoolhouse, P. Fauth's who sells "The Jewell Vapor Stove" and a few others. An interesting time capsule. Sold as is.
