Commemorative Plate from Henry Strub, Clothier and Outfitter, Springwells.

np (Detroit) 1914 7.25 diameter, gilt lettering, gilt decorated scalloped edges, floral design in center which is surrounded by "calendar" pages for 1914, crackle glazed. Light wear to flowers and gilt, hairline crack (approx 1/2") on reverse else good. Near lower edge of plate is the name Henry Strub, Clothier and Outfitter, Springwells, in tiny print near the calendar "pages" is "copyright 1911" and "our art dept." On reverse is stamped "D.E. McNicol Pottery Co., East Liverpool, Ohio." As of 1925, Strub had a department store located at 8803-8805 Michigan Ave., and another store at 8648-8650 Michigan Ave., which specialized in "Furniture, Carpets, Rugs, Victrolas and Records."
