"FACTS FOR THOSE WHO WILL UNDERSTAND THEM, GEN. CASS'S POSITION ON THE SLAVERY QUESTION Defined by Himself and His Friends, Also a Brief Notice of Southern Objections to Millard Fillmore, the Whig Vice Presidential Candidate."

G.S. Gideo, Printers: np (Washington?) nd (1848) 9 x 6, removed, 8 pp pamphlet, toned, left margin ragged, overall wear, spotting, ink number 40 at top of first page, ink spot on page 8, last leaf detached but present. Anti-Cass item -- Cass was running as Democratic nominee for President, and this item accuses him of backing the Wilmot Proviso and being pro-slavery in the territories; Fillmore is defended against charges that he is an Abolitionist. Interesting item -- early discussion on the politics of slavery, which would throw the nation into war just a few elections later.ggdfxwerw
