"THE CASS PLATFORM" [8 pp flyer from the 1848 Presidential Campaign].

Towers, Printer: Washington nd (1848) 8.75 x 5.25, self wraps, 8 pp, browned, edges toned and worn, spine with paper tape, some foxing but still a nice, well preserved piece. Sections include: "Gen. Cass's Two Faces -- One for the North, the Other for the South," "Gen. Cass's Love of the People's Money," "Gen. Cass's Incompetency as Secretary of War," etc. Cass was the Democratic nominee for President in 1848, eventually losing to Zachary Taylor. Cass replaced himself in the Senate, resigning in May of 1848 to run for President then taking the vacant seat in January.
