Book of preferred stock certificates -- 100 shares for the H. Brewer & Company/ Brewer Foundry & Steam Works.

The stock certificates are numbered from 100 to 195. Nos. 100-105 were issued and are no longer present except for 100 and 105 which have been cancelled and reattached to their stubs. The Brewer Foundry was one of Tecumseh's largest industries, making clay-working machinery for drain tiles. Attached is a letter from the Lilley State Bank regarding the cancellation and transfer of stock certificates dated Sept. 11, 1930. The bank supposedly closed down in Nov. 1929, and not reappearing until merging with Tecumseh State Bank in August of 1931 under the new name of United Savings Bank of Tecumseh. The attached cancelled stock certificate also bears the date of Sept. 11, 1930. Some of the names on the stubs are Combs, Shull, Detroit Security Trust Co, Lilley Reserve Inc.
