DEDICATION OF THE DETROIT TIMES NEW BUILDING. December 6, 1929.

Detroit 1929 Illust, 7.75 x 5, wraps, 43 + 5. Covers soiled & creased, contents have light soiling & smudging, center section (4pp) detached, missing pages 23-26. Contains speeches by the publisher, governor, local politicians and businessmen, members of the Hearst organization incl the owner himself, William Randolph Hearst. Some of the attendees were Henry & Edsel Ford, Albert Kahn (who designed the building), Edgar Guest, Alvin Macauley, Alfred P. Sloan and members of prominent Detroit families such as Briggs, Booth, Crowley, Fisher, Joy, Himelhoch, Scripps. On the front cover are ink & pencil names of the owner W. McKay Skillman, who was a Detroit Recorder's Court Judge. Skillman has put checkmarks next to the names of all his co-judges on the guest list at the back of the booklet. Included are also two congratulatory cartoons, one from Chic Young featuring "Dumb Dora" and one from Russ Westover,"Tillie the Toiler."
