DESK LOG BOOK FOR THE H.M.S. LONDON 14 MAY TO 10 AUGUST 1944.

14.5 x 11", cloth backed boards, very worn & loose with some staining but still extremely interesting day-by-day accounts of this British Cruiser, written in pencil on pre-printed lined pages. In this period, the London visited such ports as Trincomalee and Colombo in Ceylon, and Exmouth Gulf in Australia. Notes tell of arrivals in port, departures, drills ("Exercise Night Action Stations"), a couple of fals alarms (ships and aircraft), visitors, etc. The London had faced action in the North Atlantic (against the Bismarck) and the South Pacific (in Sumatra). On May 17th, the ship took part in a strike on Java, and the account is recorded cryptically here. The ship was awarded Atlantic and Arctic Battle Honors. Great, unique piece.
