Johannes Baumann: Ephrata 1806. 6x3.5", crudely bound leather backed boards, 190+1pp "Register, der Lieder", covers quite worn, contents foxed & slightly stained. The Ephrata Community, a cloistered religious sect, was established in Lancaster County, Pensylvania in the 1730's and operated (beginning in 1745) one of the only printing presses in the state outside Philadelphia (2nd only to Christopher Sower of Germantown, 1738). The community is now open to the public as a tourist attraction.
